Ok I've got the hotel all set up. Here is a link to the site: http://www.comfortinnfla.com/

DON'T CALL THE HOTEL TO BOOK. We have a group rate set up for $119 plus tax. Triples and Quads are $10 more per person. The hotel has free hot breakfast, wi-fi and shuttle from the airport to the hotel.

To book all you have to do is let me know and I'm submitting a rooming list to them. No prepayment is required, just a credit card to guarantee your room. You can cancel up to 48 hours ahead with no penalty.

If you're rooming with someone who is not your spouse, please let me know which person's card should be used to guarantee the room.

I will also have a shuttle to the pier and back for $13 per person each way.

Is the hotel fee refundable? When does it get charged?

mumsyo
10-04-2009, 12:30 PM
According to Krisi's earlier post, you can cancel within 48 hours without penalty and our card gets charged when we get there. (I hope that I understood this correctly!!)

So, if you book now, you CAN cancel and you won't be charged just as long as you cancel at least 48 hours before the check in date.

janet, good ? im sure everyone coming into the FLL will need airport transport
after the cruise, but a thought, for those that have early flights and need to be the first off, what time has been arranged and is everyone going to be willing to get off that early. some may have book later flights.

is 13pp based on a certain number of people? so that many need to take the shuttle to get that cost?

K- we got a AAA rate of 118. for this hotel but found out 65 is the tranport rate the hotel has. is that the same rate within this group rate that you got? or are you getting the same shuttle down there that you have us on coming back.

i just need to make sure for me that i go the cheapest way...

we did decide to fly down and will be flying into FLL as well :36_1_35:

Ruth and I are on the same Delta flight to go home which leaves around 3pm. I guess we could eat lunch at the airport, read a book or something waiting for our afternoon flight. I realize that some of you do have early flights out of FLL so would have to take an early shuttle to the airport. But, I guess that I will be happy to take a shuttle with all of you as $13 is much cheaper than getting a cab from the Miami port to the FLL airport!!

Ok, my little hotel guru called(Shannon) and got pricing for the Ramada, which has the hotel, pool, bar, breakfast and a shuttle to the MIA pier.

The group rate she got is:
$95 plus tax, 3rd person into a room would be $10 extra
the shuttle is $16pp one way

This is alot cheaper then the Comfort Inn and we have all stayed at the Ramanda

what do u all think

M- u are so right, we took a cab once and it was 75 when we got at the FLL airport, i about freaked out on that one, i could only imagine what it is now.

Waiting doesn't bother me at all Marilyn! I will have a book or just enjoy people watching(do that a lot) or I can usually rest my eyes sitting straight up!
Princess I found the same deal at Ramada but seems like some of them have had some bad experiences there.

Ruth, airport sitting makes a good place to people watch, im so guilty of that.

I think this is all ones preference, i have never had a problem with them each time i had stayed there while others in the group were disappointed.(not sure why I forgot lol) Im not one to go by reviews unless its all about icky bugs and dirty linens. And to me with one night only to worry about, I can handle them again. I loved the pool area there and has a nice sitting area out there to mingle

I think Shannon and I are going to do this as its alot cheaper in the long run and where we can save a buck we need to do that. :36_15_24:

My flight is at 11:10 so I need to leave miami no later than 9 am, I did let K know that she said she would let me know what time the shuttle was going to be for, but even if we had to arrange 2 shuttles, one for early flights and one for later flights I am sure we will be able too..I mean assuming others have early flights like me..if not..oh no...will I be forced to actually ride the RCCL bus...ooooh yuck

Host Kristi
10-04-2009, 02:37 PM
I'll never stay at that Ramada again. If you all want to, you're free to do so but I think it's a complete dump, ants in the foods, ants in the rooms etc. No thanks!

mumsyo
10-04-2009, 02:39 PM
Me no like ants!!! Ok, keep the hotel we have now!!!

10-04-2009, 02:43 PM
I never had that experience with them. i didnt think it was a dump but to each there own right lol

then if you not wanting to stay there can you see about a separate shuttle service? from the confort in, ramada is 16 and comfort is 30pp im sure theres cheaper if you got 13pp coming home

Host Kristi
10-04-2009, 02:46 PM
The shuttle isn't $30 pp at the Comfort Inn? It works out to $15 each.

Host Sue

IF we go, we'll be staying at the Comfort Inn.

There must be something going on in FLL during that time because rooms are definately higher than usual.

K- Jan thru April is a huge convention season down here and is our peak season... The FLL convention center is between a Doctor convention and a Dance Convention and Miami has an Internet and vintage car convention, when we are down there...

Here's a silly question, is it going to be warm enough in FL in January to use or care about a pool? The few times we've been there that time of year it was only about 65 or so.

Princess
10-04-2009, 05:33 PM
LOL depends when the Cold front rolls in It last about 2 weeks.. sometime in January!!! I know I wont be in the pool...
I think people who will be hanging out there in the day like 12-2 will be able to really enjoy it.. Anytime after 5 you will be cold! lol that coming from a Floridian!

Jane
10-04-2009, 05:37 PM
you floridians are wimps!!!! Personally I have never used the pool the night before because I dont want to deal with a wet bathing suit in my luggage...and im among one of the last arrivers my flight gets in around 5 or something like that ill have to check

Kristi i remember we had this problem last year too...its the reason we ended up using priceline for a room cause the rooms were all taken

mumsyo

I don't get into FLL until 5:45pm and I think that Ruth gets in just a little bit ahead of me--so we will be coming to the hotel at the same time. So, we will be at the hotel around dinner time. After we check in, we will come out to the pool area and see if you are there. I have quite a few of your cell phone numbers, too, so if we don't find you at the hotel, I will give one of you a call to see where in the heck you are!!!

Since I don't get in until after 5pm, don't think that I am going to go into any pool---but wasn't planning on that anyway!!

Who has the earliest flight? I knew that getting back to FLL could be an issue so I booked a late flight but I really don't care where I wait so I have no problem going to the airport early.

What do you think about a 9 am pickup? We should all be able to be off the ship by then don't you think?

mumsyo
10-05-2009, 12:21 PM
I just plan on bringing a small bag and will "self assist" when getting off the ship, so I really don't care what time we get off. I am sure that I can find something to do at the airport while waiting for my afternoon flight!!

So, guess we should just make a list of times our planes are departing from the FLL airport--especially the early flight ones.

K i think maybe we need to go earlier then that, taking into account bags to be loaded, different airlines folks traveling on,hoping hes on time? blah blah blah, but really how many total folks are booked, how big is the group.

Im feeling it too on the pool issue, wet suit, dont want to deal with that, with alot of folks getting in late, and being january does everyone really care if we have a pool? with all the hotels we stayed at i remember twice that people actually used the pool, once at the ramada and once at HI when people had there kids.
im guessing we will sit around and have cocktails i assume so why worry about a pool. IMHO
now that i type that outloud, im thinking back to candelwood now.

i really need to get off this hotel thing but im finding it hard to get past the room rate. I guess i just have to accept the jan rates but not without checking it all out LOL.... i know i know its the inner me guys...

I will just be following Marilyn around like her shadow because it will be my first time in south Florida(Ft.Lauderdale and Miami) and the first time to sail on RCCL.

JR did you see the new room rate? Kristi got the same company to take us back and forth so the room rate is a lot cheaper now

jrhound
10-05-2009, 06:09 PM
janet - i did see the rate but i think when we were doing this hotel with my AAA discount the total room cost was 118 or 119,with the tax so i think i will book individually with my disc and then add my name to the shuttle. if it didnt go up by now.

also think that since this is ending up to be a cruise around my 50th that i would love to get a limo down but have to have 7-8 folks so it was a great thought, LOL

Honestly, I think that the most important thing is that we're all together!!! (if we go that is, lol).

I can't put a price on the precruise night with all of us together. If it's an extra $40 for that, I don't care, it's priceless to me to be with my friends/fam that I only get to see a couple of times per year.
So, we will go where the majority is.

Okay - I am a procrastinator and don't have a room. I came to the thread to find out the phone number but KK's first post says DON'T call individually. Does anyone have room for another roomie at the hotel?? Otherwise I will have to see if KK can still get me a room at all for myself. :( I booked and paid for the cruise and air so long ago and haven't been on of CF boards in ages and totally have been spacing the hotel part. anybody have room for me -- or have too many in your room and want to separate and room with me if I have to get one myself?? And KK - please add me to the list!
