Parking in Mobile?

Where is a good place to park that is not at the port? Prices keep going up at the port terminal (spring 2008) at 75.00 for a 5 day cruise. Was 60.00 in September 2007. I have heard that down town (Gov. St.) it is only 6.00 a day for a secured parking lot. Where do I find these and do any come with a shuttle service? If I have to pay to help out with gas for the ship, the least they could do is not gouge prices in the parking lot. Help. If this (Gas prices)keeps up who will be able to afford to cruise anymore, let alone drive to port.

We were on the Holiday in January and yes we had to pay the $75 to park but a lot of people parked under the Interstate and it cost 0 .But just in case your interested the parking in Mobile is the most convenient of any port we have been at so when checking out prices please note the price we sometimes pay for convenience. I believe the Ramada is located close and they allow you to park free if you stay a night with them and it is close enough to walk (but doesn't look like an area I would choose to walk around in.But if I can answer any Questions please e-mail me.Oh and by the way I just Loved the Holiday!!
